Let’s reframe the accountant stereotype.
How can our industry address the shortage of accounting grads and keep the industry robust? We have to start by reframing what a career in accounting actually means.
OUT with: The nerdy number-cruncher stereotype
IN with: Accounting is the language of business, and a strategic career.
At Scouts Talent, we’ve been working on this reframing for several years. Now we’re excited to announce a high-profile initiative…
We’re hosting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt – with the spotlight on accountants!
We’ll use center court of the Target Center to set the world record for The Longest Line of Calculators – and you can participate!

This official world-record event, called the Power in Numbers Challenge, will take place:
Wednesday, September 24th
4:30 to 7:30 PM
Target Center in Minneapolis
Admission is free, with registration required (we need to get enough calculators!)
Calculators will be provided, and everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in this world record attempt!
The event is open to: CEOs, CFOs, accounting and finance leaders, CPAs, accounting and finance professionals, and college students.
Highlights of the event include:
- An interactive Guinness World Records attempt: Everyone in attendance can be a part of making history, with once-in-a-lifetime bragging rights with the opportunity to contribute to the assembly of the world’s Longest Line of Calculators.
- High-impact networking: College students will have exposure to top CPA firms and corporations. Accounting professionals will connect with colleagues and partners in the field. And employers will have recruiting opportunities with college students and other accounting professionals.
- Official world-record calculators: Following the record attempt, participants can take home a calculator as a memento of this record-setting evening. Any remaining calculators will be donated to local high schools.
