Nick comes to Scouts Talent with a successful career in financial services, recruitment, and business development. As a Business Development Manager, Nick is responsible for cultivating client and consultant relationships and scouting out consulting opportunities for the financial professionals Scouts Talent represents. Nick’s abundance mentality, strong sense of service, and intuition for making connections make him a great fit for the consulting industry. Nick began building upon his talents early with a degree in Sales and Marketing from St. Cloud State and has been a high performer ever since.
If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?
A blues guitarist. I can’t play a lick of music, but I love to listen to it. One night on the big stage, singing lead vocals and shredding guitar solos has always been a dream of mine.
What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Surround yourself with a supportive community of mentors and advocates. Be fanatical when it comes to making new connections and work hard to find ways to serve and help those connections first.
What is your mantra?
Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive. – Howard Thurman
How do you get yourself out of a slump?
Anything to reroute my train of thought. Reading, listening to a podcast, exercising, fishing, or sharing a laugh with someone seems to do the trick for me.
What companies or leaders do you admire?
The President of Creative Planning, Peter Mallouk. He has built one of the largest, most successful Independent Wealth Management Firms in America. His position on financial planning and money is simple, refreshing, and it resonates with real people.
What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?
This shift is not yet complete, but millennials will soon be the primary occupiers of leadership positions within companies. It is exciting to see companies find new ways to hire, engage, and develop a new generation of talent.
Who has been most instrumental in your career?
Numerous family members, friends, and mentors have all challenged me in different ways and helped me see the world in more profound ways. I will forever be grateful for these relationships.
What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?
When there is a reason to celebrate, I like to use it as an excuse to try out a new restaurant with family and friends. Recommendations are always welcome!
