If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?

High school business teacher – just for one day!

What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

My best advice for anyone starting out in the construction industry is to take advantage of every networking opportunity you can. This industry is very dependent on relationships for business development, problem solving and dispute resolution.

What is your mantra?

Work hard and play harder to get the most out of life.

How do you get yourself out of a slump?

Taking on big projects that I believe will have a big impact energizes me.

What companies or leaders do you admire?

I have a lot of respect for leaders who can bring volunteers together to achieve great things.

What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?

The construction industry has seen a lot of benefits from technology over the last decade. This is particularly noticeable in the reduced flow of paperwork, which is a very good thing.

Who has been most instrumental in your career?

My high school accounting teacher was my first exposure to this career. He made it fun and interesting.

What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?

I enjoy watching my colleagues drink Pappy Van Winkle.
