Mark Crea, CEO Feed My Starving Children

For the past 14 years, Mark Crea has served as the CEO of Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). FMSC is a non-profit that provides nutritious meals to orphanages, schools and clinics in nearly 70 countries. Mark’s continued passion for feeding the poor until ALL are fed made Scouts Talent curious to learn more…

As Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) continues toward its goal of feeding the impoverished in hard-to-reach places around the world, what is the biggest challenge toward reaching this ambitious goal?

Finding exceptional imbedded nongovernmental organizations (NGO’s) and missionaries in these countries who can get our meals into the tummies of the vulnerable children.

What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

Have faith and make room for God’s surprises.

What is your mantra?

Are we having fun yet?

How do you get yourself out of a slump?

Focus on feeding one child at a time.

What companies or leaders do you admire?

Our feeding partners — they do such hard work every day. They have the heart of a pastor, the drive of an entrepreneur, and the guts of a marine!

What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?

Emphasizing the need for measurable outcomes in the relief industry. Are we really making a difference? This is very important information for donors and watchdog groups.

If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?

I have the best job in the world. However, for a day, I would be an astronaut and fly to the international space station.

What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?

My favorite tradition is homemade Ravioli.
