If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?

I would host a travel TV show highlighting the latest and greatest places to see around the world. I love to travel and experience new places. I have brought my daughter on over a dozen trips before she turned 2!

What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

Be open to any opportunity that comes your way with a smile. You never know what direction your career will take you when you are open to new things.

What is your mantra?

Work hard, play hard.

What companies or leaders do you admire?

I have had the opportunity to work for several amazing leaders. I try to embody the best traits from each of them – specifically to be kind, fair and find a good balance between work and life. I truly admire leaders that fully encompass all aspects of life. Work is not just work. The decisions we make at the office impact the community, the employees and their families. What we do and the decisions we make, create who we are.

What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?

The COVID pandemic flipped the world upside down including the accounting and finance industry. As a result, I think we are all more adaptable to any situation at hand. It is remarkable to see how the flexibility and hybrid opportunities provided by employees has widened the net for companies to find incredible talent.

How do you get yourself out of a slump?

I love to go for a long run or walk outside in the fresh air no matter the weather – rain, snow, or sunshine!

Who has been most instrumental in your career?

There have been numerous influential individuals in my career. To start, my professors in the Accounting Department at UND really drove me in the direction of accounting and helped get my first internship and job in public accounting. Deloitte was foundational in my career from Seniors to Managers to Partners – every leader I encountered I have learned from and has left a mark. Finally, my husband has been an incredible supporter and confidant. Each time I contemplate a career change, he tells me to follow my heart/gut and asks me one question, “What would you tell our daughter to do?”

What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?

I love to go get sushi and have a drink with my husband and daughter. Good food and good people warm my soul.
