If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?
Something in the medical field. I love helping people and there is nothing better than helping others maintain their health.
What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Challenge the status quo. Always ask, “Why, and what if? Why do we do what we do, and what if we did it differently?” Our industry is based on a long history of nursing home experience that is less applicable today.
What is your mantra?
Genius is merely patience.
How do you get yourself out of a slump?
Look for small victories and keep reminding myself that sometimes I have to lose a battle to win the war.
What companies or leaders do you admire?
I love companies and leaders that have the courage to fail.
What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?
It is shifting quickly from a health care model to a consumer model. Expectations are increasing daily and consumer options are expanding rapidly.
Who has been most instrumental in your career?
Randy Pearce. Randy gave me the opportunity to grow into the leader I am today. He trusted me to do the right thing.
What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?
I am not much into celebrations, but when I do, a great steak is my go-to.
