If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?

I think it would be a blast to be a comedian and have the ability to be quick witted and make people laugh. It’s all about the timing of delivery. I don’t have a knack for it and I am the worst joke teller, but I do love good jokes!

What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

In the software industry, you need to be a change agent in any role. Don’t settle for how you initially learn to do your job. Be proactive as heck and keep implementing ways to do processes. Work better and faster to keep up with the competition.

What is your mantra?

Keep calm and rock on!

How do you get yourself out of a slump?

I need to get things off my chest and then move on. It’s a waste of time to let things fester.

What companies or leaders do you admire?

Simon Sinek comes to mind. I really admire his coaching and books on knowing your why, your organization’s why, and being a servant leader.

What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?

The reliance on implementing and utilizing smart systems and easy-to-use reporting both on computers and mobile phones. The need for access to real-time data to be able to make quick decisions and stay ahead of the competition is vital for a company’s success.

Who has been most instrumental in your career?

Besides my dad (who told me to take computer science classes right away when they first came out in high school and college as optional), all my bosses have influenced me to be better both at work and home. I have been fortunate working for such smart, talented, family-focused leaders.

What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?

That’s a hard one. I love to eat and drink. Right now I would have to say sushi with a nice cabernet.
