If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?
A professional ballerina, I’m not even close to being a good enough dancer for that but I have always admired the dedication of people who make art their livelihood.
What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Rather than being frustrated or overwhelmed by being the newest and least experienced, think about what an exciting opportunity you have ahead to learn and become more skillful in your area of practice with every new day.
What is your mantra?
There is no destination, there is only the journey. The experience of working towards a goal is the best part of reaching it, for me. Additionally, goals are a moving target and become just a step of the process once achieved.
How do you get yourself out of a slump?
I re-energize by getting active—whether it’s a challenging gym session, a yoga class, or a long walk outside. I also find inspiration in learning, often through a good nonfiction book or an educational podcast.
What companies or leaders do you admire?
I strongly respect and admire my former internship supervisor, Nickie Carrigan. She built a business in fitness based on her love for it, to help others feel their best and become their healthiest selves in all aspects of life. Nickie leads her team with positivity and has been an excellent example of blending passion and work ethic to build a successful brand.
Who has been most instrumental in your career?
My mom and dad. When I was a kid, they were never the parents who would do my homework for me, but they were always the ones who made sure that I had the resources to learn how to do it on my own. They’ve maintained that kind of support ever since, ensuring that I had opportunities to be educated and challenged and stood back to allow me to figure out my path.
What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?
Caesar salad, French fries, and Diet Coke – they are my big three.
